The Facilities Division serves as a key strategic and operational partner charged with stewardship of the Laboratory’s infrastructure. We are continuously planning for future facilities needed to enable scientific research at Berkeley Lab as well as maintaining and improving our current infrastructure. We provide 24-hour high quality support services to ensure continuity of scientific research.

Brent joined the Laboratory in January 2019 as the Director of Facilities, responsible for stewardship of the Laboratory’s infrastructure. Brent has over 30 years of experience in facilities and infrastructure management, most recently at the Nuclear Waste Partnership in Carlsbad, New Mexico, which manages and operates the Department of Energy’s Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP). He has also spent time at Lawrence Livermore National Lab as the Deputy Associate Director of Facilities and Infrastructure, and twenty years at the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas where he served as the Utilities and Plant Maintenance Department Manager. Brent is a veteran of the US Navy nuclear submarine force.

Beth has served in her role as Deputy Director of Facilities since May 2019. Beth has over 30 years experience in Operations, Facilities Management, and Environment, Safety, and Health. She has worked as a manager in DOE nuclear and non-nuclear operations and research and development. Prior to joining LBNL’s Facilities Division in January 2016, Beth worked at the Idaho National Laboratory for 27 years overseeing Conduct of Operations and Conduct of Maintenance for the Laboratory, and managing a complex of 38 facilities supporting research. Beth holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Idaho.

Jim Manages the Facilities Business Center which includes the Business Management, Financial,
Transportation/Shipping/Receiving/Mail and Contract Services that include Cafeteria, Guest House and Bus Services. He also oversees Assurance, Program Management and Administrative functions. He has been in Facilities for fourteen years. Jim started off in the OCFO Budget Office twenty three years ago where he was the Indirect Budget Manager. He has also been a Resource Manager at the ALS. Prior to coming to the lab Jim has worked in the Banking business. He has a BS from the University of Connecticut
and an MBA from Hoftstra University.

Laura is responsible for Infrastructure Planning and Asset Management, Site and Environmental Planning, and Space Management Planning. After graduating from UC Berkeley with a degree in Architecture, she has dedicated her career to providing a long-term strategic approach to renewing and enhancing our campus, facilities, and infrastructure from a lifecycle perspective so that the Lab remains world-class and well-positioned to meet future science needs.

Keileigh has fifteen years of experience in Work Management with many years dedicated to the nuclear environment. She has experience with DOE as well as Commercial Nuclear Operations. Her previous roles have included compliance management, work control planning and operations. Responsibilities in these positions included ensuring compliance to ASME NQA-1 nuclear quality assurance program, investigating conditions adverse to quality, determining and implementing corrective action plans, and leading cross-functional teams charged with defining process efficiencies.

Ryan provides leadership for teams of mechanics, electricians, building controls technicians, custodians, riggers, painters, and laborers who serve the Laboratory’s infrastructure needs on a 24/7 schedule. Ryan joined LBNL in 2003 as an electrician and has held positions in work planning and control and electrical management prior to assuming his current role as Acting Department Head of Site Utilities and Maintenance Department. Prior to coming to LBNL, Ryan was an electrician for the IBEW Local 595. Ryan has a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Cal State University.
