Facilities Operations & Services supports LBNL research and science by providing high quality stewardship and operational needs of LBNL facilities. Our mission is to create, support, and maintain campus infrastructure by providing responsive and efficient customer service.
Facilities Area Management
Facility Area Managers (FAMs) serve as strategic partners in support of LBNL science, overall customer needs, and eliminating service barriers acting as the liaisons and point of contact for all the building occupants’ needs. FAMs translate work requests into clearly bounded work scopes using field walkdowns, analysis of complex systems and components, and comprehensive knowledge of facility engineering principles so that work activities can be planned effectively. FAMs work with Building Coordinators and Crafts Personnel to prioritize, coordinate, and schedule work activities.
Work Planning & Control
The Work Planning & Control group plans facility and infrastructure work activities, including maintenance, repairs, replacements, minor modifications, and construction. Work Planners triage work requests to determine the level of work planning required, schedule and coordinate preventative maintenance, order necessary tools and materials, and develop detailed technical work documents/Job Hazards Analyses in support of this work.
