Region Facilities Management
Under the Region Facilities Management approach, a dedicated team of Facilities personnel is assigned to a specific area (region) and set of buildings at the Lab. This team will work together to support the specific needs of their region’s partners/stakeholders.
The benefits of a Region Facilities Management team include:
- A co-located team which will engage directly and more frequently with science partners in the region
- Increased service delivery through a dedicated team focusing on work specific to Region 3
- A better understanding of the science/work being performed in each building and the health of the building equipment and systems
What does not change:
- People will continue to use the Work Request Center to submit work requests and contact the Facility Area Manager assigned to their building with building concerns.
Region 3 Pilot
The Region 3 Pilot will take place over six months from July – December 2022. Region 3 includes buildings 13J, 33A, 62, 66/66A, 67, 72, 73, 74, 83, 84, 85 and 86, and is defined by the map shown below.
During the pilot, a Facilities team will be co-located in Region 3 to learn what works, what does not work, work load, and process flow to inform the plan for future regional model implementation. The expected outcome of the pilot is to learn about the benefits and challenges of the regional model, and to establish a foundation for sustainable improvements in the facility service delivery model.
Facilities Division has defined the following metrics to track progress:
-
- Maintain or reduce overall cycle time (all work orders except preventative maintenance work orders)
- Reduce backlog by ~ 25% by January 1, 2023
- Achieve partner satisfaction ratings of 4 or higher based on survey sent out on 25% of the work orders completed
- Hold bi-monthly feedback discussions with employees and stakeholders/science partners to adjust our approach for future zones
